Le choix du Made in France

The Choice of Made in France

"(Re)localize," "responsible purchasing," and "committed consumption" are the key themes of this back-to-school season, emphasizing the importance of supporting local and sustainable consumption. The good news is that more and more consumers are responding positively to this call. The Mifexpo exhibition, dedicated to showcasing Made in France products and providing the public with an opportunity to discover French innovation and creativity, has been experiencing unprecedented success. Its director, Fabienne Delahaye, boldly affirms, "Made in France is making tremendous progress."

Purchasing Made in France products means directly supporting French industries, ensuring product quality and compliance with social standards. It also reduces transportation distances, benefiting the environment, and promotes employment and the preservation of local craftsmanship in regions close to us.

Since 2016, the National Institute of Arts and Crafts has recognized the French shoemaking (including slippers) as a distinct craft, with shoe designer-manufacturers employing technical heritage encompassing expertise, skill, and knowledge of working with leather.

Did you know that out of the 99 French companies in the sector, 33 have between 11 and 50 employees? Production in small series and limited stock is the result of small, dynamic, and agile companies in our regions, ensuring the mastery and transmission of expertise. Whether we are entrepreneurs or consumers, our choices have an impact on the local economy and the environment.

Therefore, our decision at Volubilis to manufacture our indoor shoes in France is not only enthusiastic but also thoughtful and committed.
